CYCLING

New Lane, and the surrounding areas are beautiful places to ride your bike with a wide variety of scenery, Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding National Beauty, and designated traffic-free routes.

Several local schools, shops, community services, and employment areas are accessible within 15 minutes of New Lane. You can cycle to all the facilities in Havant and parts of Portsmouth within around a 30-minute ride. Havant connects to the national cycle network, with Cycleway 22 running parallel to New Lane via Petersfield Road. Cycleway 22 runs north towards Petersfield and south-east towards Portsmouth, as well as connecting to Cycleway 2 which runs west towards Chichester and south along Hayling Island.

Cycleway 22 is partly on-road and does include some off-road cycle tracks in proximity to the site, such as a track from Havant Station to Newtown and along a large portion of Petersfield Road. Both routes feature a shared footway / cycleway.

Explore your local community by bike!

We’re encouraging families to get more out of life – by getting on your bike and exploring the local community – either for an outing at the weekend, or a trip to the local shops, part of the school run, or daily commute.
